If you follow me on instagram, you probably already know that I am a breakfast on the go type person. My breakfast usually involves overnight oats (lately it’s been in the form of overnight oat popsicles ) & superfood granola bars. I drink smoothies/shakes too but I find that they are high in carbohydrates and low in protein than I would ideally like. Don’t get me wrong, there are definitely ways to add protein to smoothies/shakes without the use of protein powder or a drink but a girl can only drink so much nut butter & yogurt based smoothies. So I have partnered with Premiere Protein to create Vanilla Rose Lassi Protein Shake using their shelf-stable vanilla protein shake. Vanilla Rose Lassi Protein Shake is a delicious concoction packed with protein that is perfect for on-the go breakfast, snack, and can be customized to meet your lifestyle.
One of the reasons I usually stay away from protein powder/drink is because I get enough protein through food and also that most protein powder/shake have an after taste. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Premiere Protein vanilla shake actually tastes really good; very little to no aftertaste. For only 4 grams of carbohydrate (1 gram sugar), 30 grams of protein, and 160 calories, I could see it being part of my lifestyle.
Everyone has different opinions and needs when it comes to protein powder/shakes. Ideally you would want to get your nutrition via whole foods but there are instances where protein powder/shakes can be a part of your healthy lifestyle. Premiere Protein shakes (chocolate, banana and cream, and vanilla) are great for those busy mornings when you are unable to grab breakfast or need a snack before your workout. Since it is shelf-stable, you can carry it in your purse, workout bag, or leave it in your office desk. There are lot of situations where one needs to be on low carb, high protein lifestyle (post bariatric surgery, anyone following a low carb diet etc) and it is often hard to find a good protein shake that fits the requirement. I am happy to share that Premiere Protein is definitely a great one to consider.
Vanilla Rose Lassi Protein Shake is an upgraded shake that reminds me of a cross between lassi (yogurt-based drink) & rasmalai (Indian dessert made with cottage cheese balls soaked in sweetened thickened milk flavored with saffron, pistachios & cardamom). The recipe I am sharing uses rose jam which is very floral and sweet but if you don’t want added sugar in your shake, feel free to replace the jam with rose water….or add a little bit of both.
Serves: 2
1-11 oz vanilla shake
1/2 cup plain, Greek yogurt (I used full fat)
1/4 cup cold water
2 teaspoon rose water
1 teaspoon rose jam
1 pinch cardamom powder
2 tablespoon crushed pistachio, for garnish
In a blender, blend everything except crushed pistachio.
Taste and adjust flavors as needed.
Pour in a cup (or split into two cups) and garnish with crushed pistachio.
The recipe makes decent 2 servings; it has about about 40-45 grams of protein & 260-280 calories total.
I hope you will enjoy Vanilla Rose Lassi Protein Shake as much as I did.
