Pumpkin Nice Cream

Make Pumpkin Nice Cream using very few ingredients without an ice cream maker! It’s vegan-friendly, naturally-gluten-free, and can be made without added sugar. 

Even though we are officially into Fall,  Texas has not quite gotten the memo yet. I don’t care what the weather says, I cannot NOT get into pumpkin mode. Let’s start the season with Pumpkin Nice Cream, shall we? Nice cream has been around for a couple of years but this is my 1st recipe on the blog. If you are not familiar with nice cream – it’s a healthier, soft-serve like ice cream with a banana base. I made a variation with chocolate before and completely forgot about it until now.



Pumpkin Nice Cream is made with just few ingredients without the use of an ice cream maker…and it’s vegan-friendly & naturally gluten-free. The trick to get ‘soft-serve’ like consistency nice cream is ‘frozen sliced bananas’ and a good food processor. You can enjoy it immediately or freeze it for later use. Personally, I’d suggest enjoying it right away for 2 reasons: You will have to wait for pumpkin nice cream to thaw and in the process, you will have to thaw the whole batch of pumpkin nice cream (which you can probably prevent by storing it in a smaller container individually). I was a little hesitant to share my version of Pumpkin Nice Cream because I ran into some issues but it’s mainly due to my shitty food processor.



Instead of only freezing banana slices, I froze pumpkin puree with pumpkin pie spices into ice cube trays. In theory, that was a great plan but when it came to blending those together – it just didn’t cooperate with my food processor. Those frozen pumpkin cubes were too big and just would not work…it probably will work if you have a powerful blender.




Vegan Pumpkin Nice Cream

Pumpkin Nice Cream is naturally sweetened with bananas but if you’d like drizzle of honey or maple syrup won’t hurt. It has a consistency of soft-serve ice-cream and I suggest you top it with roasted and pecans, walnuts, or pumpkin seeds for that added layer of texture.

These are definitely not a replacement for a real-deal ice-cream (at least in my opinion) but a healthy treat that can be enjoyed as a dessert or snack. Have you tried nice cream before? What did you think?

Pumpkin Nice Cream

Serves: 4 servings


  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 4 bananas, sliced and frozen
  • 1 tablespoon honey (maple syrup for vegan or use any other liquid sweetener if desired)
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • roasted nuts/seeds of your choice


  1. In a food processor, combine frozen banana sliced, pumpkin puree, honey, pumpkin pie spice until smooth. It should resemble soft-serve ice cream.
  2. Enjoy immediately or store it in the freezer covered.


If placed in the freezer, leave it on the counter top to thaw 5-7 minutes before serving.
