Ferrero Rocher is one of my favorite things to eat. What is not to love about the combination of chocolate + hazelnuts?? The texture is just spot on! It’s one of those things I will continue to eat until there is no more left. Since this is a prime season to experiment with candies, edible holiday gifts, and just everything deliciousness – I played with classic Ferrero Rocher ingredients and added a healthy spin to it. These Ferrero Rocher truffles are not meant to replace your candies but I’d like to provide you with a healthier version so it’s totally acceptable to eat chocolate pre/post workout and as a snack!
Holiday season usually brings a lot of discussions about weight gain and unhealthy eating habits but this year I am seeing the conversation slowly shifting towards rejoicing rather than feeling guilty. This kind of change is much needed because in the grand scheme of things, indulging a little bit more and moving less than usual in between Thanksgiving and New Years isn’t that big of a deal. The remaining eleven months is probably where we need to focus on eating wholesome food and staying physically active.
Don’t stress too much about an extra slice of cake or a glass of wine, indulge in things you truly enjoy and make beautiful memories with people you love. It’s easier said than done but at the end of the day, it really comes down to balance. Start your day with wholesome breakfast, don’t forget your fruits and veggies, and move when you find time. So that ends my little spill on healthy living and holidays! Let’s talk about these Healthy Ferrero Rocher Truffles.
Dates + Hazelnuts + Cocoa Power + Crushed Hazelnut Wafers are the star ingredients behind these truffles and can be made in 10-15 minutes using just a food processor. The recipe can be made vegan and gluten-free if you use GF/vegan hazelnut wafers such as Schar Wafers (GF), Manner (Vegan-Friendly) but I use Quadrantini Hazelnut Wafers which is found in most Asian stores and World Market.
Hazelnut wafers adds a perfect touch to these truffles because it has nutella filling which is pretty essential for Ferrero Rocher Truffles. Without the wafers, it didn’t quite have that ferrero rocher taste so I wouldn’t skip it. The more the better!!! However, for some reason if you decide to skip it, it will be more of an energy bite minus the ferrero rocher taste which is quite delicious too!
I had a blast shooting these truffles which is why I am torturing you with so many photos. I hope it will inspire you to run to the store, gather ingredients, and make these Healthy Ferrero Rocher Truffles immediately. Make a big batch, save some for yourself and share the rest with your favorite people!
