Starting Whole30..

One of my goals this year was to go on a weird diet/nutrition challenge. The year before I did fruits and vegetables only diet for only two days but this year, I wanted to do something more structured and for longer. I started whole30 yesterday! I chose this month because after constantly cooking and eating for the past two months for the book, my body could really use a little break. And also it's my birth month :)

Whole 30 is basically a short-term nutrition challenge for 30 days which is believed to help reset your system, help put end to  unhealthy cravings, restore a healthy metabolism, heal digestive tract, and balance your immune system. Well, I don't think I am intolerant to anything except for dairy..one of the main reasons I am trying this is to see if it helps my acne (read here, here, and here) and tummy aches. I am not even sure what to expect but will keep you guys updated weekly.

So..for the next 30 days I will be eating all REAL food : ton of vegetables, some fruits, meat, eggs, seafood, nuts, seeds, and healthy fats. 

I will be staying away from sugar (real, added, or artificial), alcohol (even in cooking), grains including pseudo grains like quinoa, legumes except for green beans, sugar snap peas, and snow peas, white potatoes, no sulfites, MSG, carrageenan, and paleofyed baked good, desserts, or junk foods.

While I already eat mostly real food, I am just a little worried about excluding the grain completely. And breakfast, that is probably going to be my most challenging meal of the day. My other concern is the workout..will I have the energy for body pump and turbo kick? I will update on that too. 

This grocery list was extremely helpful and I bought some whole30 friendly ingredients. So for the next four weeks, I will be sharing my experience weekly and of course a recipe or two. "Meet the Dietitian" series will resume from next Friday because this Friday, I present you ''27". Woot Woot!!
