Banana Dates Tahini Smoothie is a nutritious smoothie made with few simple ingredients. Naturally sweetened with dates and banana!
I love when I am greeted with tahini on my doorstep. Who doesn’t right? Unless you don’t like tahini then I don’t know what to tell you. The kind folks from Sesame King Tahini sent me two jars of tahini (roasted and cajun flavor), which by the way are made from 100% pure ground sesame seeds sans all the filler ingredients. I usually have a jar of tahini on hand for my hummus and tahini dressing needs, but I thought I’d try a smoothie with tahini instead of my regular peanut butter for a change. And now I am a fan of smoothies made with tahini.
Banana Dates Tahini Smoothie has a healthy dose of tahini; tahini is simply a sesame paste that resembles peanut butter in some ways but its much nuttier and has a slight bitter undertone. For the sweetness, I added dates and banana help lend a smooth consistency and wonderful flavor. Use milk as your base; almond/cow/soy or whatever you prefer is just fine. I have made this very smoothie with little cocoa powder and its delightful..chocolate makes everything good, no? or a dash of cinnamon…you could probably add your favorite protein powder for additional protein.
The recipe I am sharing below is not as thick like most smoothies but I like my smoothies that way. If you want a thicker version, use less milk and increase the amount of banana. Either way, it’s delicious. Smoothies are my go to breakfast & snacks because it’s downright delicious, nutritious, and easy to put together. If you are looking to invest in one kitchen equipment, I highly recommend a good blender (and it does not have to be a super fancy kind). I have this and I use it almost everyday for making smoothies and soups. Depending upon the power of your blender, you may need to soak dates prior to blending otherwise, small date chunks will settle at the bottom.
Black beans and mango combined with fresh ingredients like tomatoes, onions, and cilantro makes a flavor pack salsa, high in protein and plant-forward. This is a versatile recipe that can be served with chips, enjoyed as a salad or as a side dish with grilled chicken or fish.
Earl Grey Truffles are decadent and has orange, bergamot notes from Earl Grey tea in every creamy bite. They will make a lovely gift for the holidays, for dinner parties, or simply enjoy it with a cup of tea. The recipe is vegan and dairy-free!
Egg in a Basket is a fun way to enjoy egg and toast. Grab your favorite bread, some eggs, butter/oil and a nice pan to feel little fancy in the morning. Also known as egg in a hole, toad in the hole.
In Nepali language, sadeko roughly means marinated. Please don’t ask me why I am calling marinated chicken a salad..for lack of a better word maybe. While growing up in Nepal, I didn’t eat “fresh, green, leafy salad” like we do in the West, so I just associate “sadeko” or marinating anything with with spices and tempering… Continue reading Chicken Sadeko | Shredded Chicken Salad
