Care for some coffee?

Dec 14, 2010
I can't exactly remember how I grew so fond of coffee.. by coffee, I mean straight black coffee by itself! I first got acquainted to this magical world by my dad who is a avid coffee drinker! While growing up, I remember sneaking a sip or two of bitter black liquid and could never understand how or why my dad's taste bud found it so tasteful..But now after a decade  or so...I do not ask for anything but a cup of freshly brewed coffee to jump start my day! The sound of coffee slowly dripping into the pot..smell of coffee...everything about it enlivens me...If anyone reading this blog loves coffee..you would know what I am talking about.
Is it the flavor, caffeine or something else in that mug that I am hooked into..I don't know! 2 cups a day is not a lot but the whole controversy on caffeine and health makes me anxious sometimes..Even though coffee has always been blamed for its ill-effect, thanks to newer studies that have actually shown benefits in protecting against Parkinson's disease, type 2 diabetes and even liver cancer..A cup of brewed coffee provides 138 mg caffeine..and the longer we brew, the more caffeine it extracts!! The recommendation is not to exceed 500-600 milligrams a day..Phewww!Shout outs to all the coffee growers, coffee lovers, and great baristas out there...
I'd stop drinking coffee, but I'm no quitter.
Do I like my coffee black?  There are other colors?

  1. Ah morning coffee, there's nothing like it! I grew up in a family that loves coffee, so for me, it definitely has a comfort factor in addition to caffeine and all the other good stuff.
